Exploring the local Area
Carini lies halfway up a mountain at about 170 metres above sea level. It has splendid views over the valley and the sea below. There are a series of Lidos closeby on the coast at Isola delle Femmine, Capaci and Sferracavallo, offering, sunloungers, umbrellas, bars and watersports. Just west along the coast near Terrasini there is also a waterpark, Citta' del Mare, a great day out for children. Close to Palermo, it is an ideal base for trips to the west of Sicily and, more in particular, to Segesta, Erice, Trapani, Marsala, Selinunte and the Egadi Islands. As far as beaches are concerned, Mondello is very close, while the small towns of Scopello and San Vito Lo Capo (about 30mins and 1hr away respectively), which delimit Lo Zingaro Natural Park, offer good swimming. Carini's main attraction is its 16th Century castle which also plays host to a summer jazz festival. There are several restaurants and plenty of shops.
