Enter the property through the impressive gated tower leading into the fortified, internal courtyard.
Inside: on the ground floor are the large dining room, the kitchen, a music corner with piano, a breakfast table and a guest bathroom. A half level up is a twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom, another half level up from that is the living room and library and a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom. The final flight of stairs takes you to the largest double bedroom with en-suite bathroom and an antechamber containing a further three beds (available for children at a small extra cost). This room opens onto a terrace boasting spectacular views and served from the kitchen by a dumb waiter. The fourth bedroom, a comfortable self-contained single bedroom with bathroom by the pool, is at a slightly lower level than the rest of the house.
Outside: the exterior of the property is dominated by the impressive towers. The walled courtyard of the castle is on the ground floor and communicates with the dining room and the hallway. It also has a chapel. A stone staircase leads down through the walls to an Arabic garden featuring palms, olive trees, an external kitchen with barbecue, a dining area and the fabulous "long and narrow" 18x4 metre pool with an advanced saline filtration system.

Think About
Al Jafar has an excellent ecological pedigree: its solar panels, low energy lightbulbs and an eco-friendly water pump system make it virtually self-sufficient, saving some 15,000 tons of CO2 emissions. This house is a restored mediaeval tower and has an intriguing collection of staircases. As a consequence it is not really suitable for very young children or people with mobility restrictions. It would, however, be fabulous for a family with children who are confident with stairs as there is so much to explore!
