The Property
Inside: the house is distributed over three floors. One enters on the ground floor where there is a double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, a large, fully equipped kitchen, a small guest bathroom and a spacious living and dining area with open fireplace. Large picture windows provide direct, seamless access to the terrace and garden. A few steps lead down to two double bedrooms with sea views and access to the garden and a shared bathroom. Upstairs is the master double bedroom with sea view and en-suite bathroom with tub and shower. Here there is also a study with garden view which, though accessed via the master bedroom, may be used as an extra single bedroom. On the lower ground floor is a self contained apartment with two double bedrooms, two bathrooms and a kitchen. This may be taken by clients occupying the main house and is not let separately. The lower ground floor is also home to the Turkish bath, which contains a steam room, chromotherapy lighting, a hydro-massage shower and an internal water feature, all in Moroccan tadelak. Just around the corner, passing through a relaxing tea area, is the new fitness centre with treadmill, mirrored walls and a multi-gym.
Outside: the terraces and gardens are large, well furnished, and have plenty of areas for dining and relaxing. The focal point is undoubtedly the delightful heated pool. There is also a hot-tub/jacuzzi in the garden, with panoramic sea views, perfect for a sundowner. A garden gate takes you onto the short road down to the small pebbly-sandy beach.
The Area
Baia dei Turchi is situated in a large private plot of land in a complex of high quality holiday residences on a quiet, isolated piece of coast just north of Siracusa. It is convenient for visiting Siracusa, Noto and the surrounding nature reserves such as Cassibile and Vendicari.
There are good local bars and restaurants in the nearby town of Brucoli.
Siracusa is 30mins drive away. Slightly further afield, Taormina, Mount Etna, Noto and Ragusa (Unesco World Heritage sites) are all good day trips, and a drive down to the southernmost tip of Sicily beyond Portopalo is highly recommended.
