About the Property


Inside: from the main entrance, leave the pool behind you and enter the first sitting room of the main house with its sofa full of cushions and stereo with extensive CD collection. To the right of this room is another sitting room with fireplace, satelite TV and a sofabed. Straight on to the third sitting room with stylish sofa and armchairs, another fireplace and door out to the walled courtyard. Next to this room are the bathroom with a large shower and a utility room. Proceeding through the house, the beautifully equipped kitchen with large dining table and the double bedroom both lead directly onto the terrace and the pool.

Outside: on entering the grounds, either through the small pedestrian gate or via the larger gate to the secure parking area, the style of the house and grounds are immediately apparant. Pool, terracing and house are characterised by the white stone and red tinted plaster typical of the area. The pool measures 8x4 metres but punches well above its weight thanks to the addition of a Jacuzzi corner and a "swimming machine" allowing you to swim against the current. The grounds have a wonderful selection of Mediterranean flora including olive and pomegranate trees. The terraces are beautifully furnished with teak furniture on which stylish cushions are liberally scattered. The views from the pool terraces are over hilly countryside and the sunset behind the hills is spectacular. There is also an internal courtyard behind the house, again beautifully planted and lit.

A/C (hot and cold) and fireplaces make the house perfect for both summer and winter (when it is very cosy). The pool is open all year round, though it is not heated.

The house is situated in the hamlet of Ballata in the countryside close to Trapani and Erice.

The towns of Trapani and Erice are well worth a visit, as are the Egadi Islands, the charming town and rocky coves of Scopello, the long sandy beach at San Vito and the Zingaro nature reserve. The salt pans between Trapani and Marsala and the famous wineries at Marsala are also within a short drive.

Definitely “not to be missed” are the stunning Greek temples at Segesta and Selinunte.

"What an amazing place. We knew the weather would be hot coming to Sicily at the height of summer so we'd already planned a more relaxing holiday than normal, where being around the house, relaxing in the shade and taking frequent dips would be order of the day.
