Overview
A chic, modern waterfront villa with a large pool and direct sea access. Casa al Faro, set in the Plemmirio nature reserve just outside the stunning historical centre of Syracuse, has all the ingredients for a perfect holiday. Imagine the clean lines and contemporary design, the super equipped kitchen and bathrooms, the rolling lawns and beautiful swimming pool, and then imagine the "piece de resistance": a unique private cave at the end of the garden from which to dive into the crystal clear Mediterranean water.
The Property
Inside: the main living area is one large L shaped room with superb picture windows and a seamless communication with the terraces, the garden and the view. The kitchen is beautifully fitted and proportioned, and offers easy access to inside and outside dining areas, and the outside BBQ and wood burning pizza oven. Beyond the indoor dining table is a stylish sofa settled in front of a picture window with spectacular view and a large Plasma screen. To the rear of the house are four bedrooms. One double room has an en-suite bathroom. The other double and two twins (one of which has bunk beds) share a bathroom with shower and tub. There is also a guest bathroom and an outdoor shower with wash basin.
Outside: immediately outside the living area is a terrace with outdoor kitchen and dining area, and an outdoor open fireplace, which is ideal for evenings outdoors in the spring and autumn. The large, lawned garden features stylishly furnished areas for relaxing and taking in the view or sunbathing. The pool is large and great for swimming and playing, it also features a bar between the shallow end and the deep end. A really unique feature of Casa al Faro is a cave, which is accessed via a spiral staircase at the bottom of the garden, and from which one can jump or descend a ladder into the crystal waters of the sea. For the less adventurous, the sea can also be accessed a couple of minutes walk from the front gate. Also just outside the front gate are some beautiful walks in the Plemmirio nature reserve.
The Area
Following the defeat of the Athenians in 413 BC Syracuse was arguably the most important city in the Mediterranean (and hence perhaps the world). Remains of that period are beautifully preserved in Ortygia, at Neapolis and in the fabulous archeological museum, all of which are within a few kilometres drive of Casa al Faro. Syracuse is not just an Ancient Greek museum however. The old baroque island city of Ortygia offers a marvelous choice of restaurants, bars and shops in beautiful piazzas and on the sea front. Also within easy distance of Casa al Faro are white sandy beaches, towns such as Noto, Modica and Ragusa, Mount Etna, and much more.

Think About
The Plemmirio Nature Reserve is one of the most beautiful areas around Siracusa and there are several beautiful walks from the gate of the villa. The sea access, as mentioned above is via a jump or by descending a ladder and may not be suitable for young children, the less adventurous or the less mobile.
