About the Property

Inside: the front door leads to the main living area and on to a large terrace overlooking the sea. There are two sitting areas, an open fireplace and a large dining table. Also on this floor is a well equipped kitchen. Down one flight of stairs is a second living area with comfortable sofas and TV, a double bedroom and a bathroom. Down another flight is a fully self-contained apartment with a double bedroom, bathroom and open kitchen area leading onto a terrace. Upstairs from the front door is a double bedroom, a bedroom with asymmetrical bunk beds, a bedroom with a large single bed and two bathrooms.

Outside: the extensive grounds offer beautiful views of the coast and the sea from all angles. There is a barbecue and a good range of outdoor furniture and sunshades. At the bottom of the garden a flight of about 120 steps leads down to the sea and the private sea access.

Think About

Central heating ideal for the winter. You may have noticed that although there are 9 beds, we limit the number of guests to 6. Clients are free to organise their sleeping arrangements as they prefer. SCUBA club in Scopello, sailing in Castellamare, walking in lo Zingaro.


The Area

Exploring the local Area

Set on the edge of the Golfo di Castellammare, Funcia occupies a very private spot on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Sicily.

The small town of Scopello just up the hill has a good selection of restaurants and bars, and can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. There are a few decent shops about 10 minutes' walk away.

The old tuna plant of Scopello, a few hundred metres along the coast from the villa, is in a very suggestive setting, and the Zingaro Nature Reserve offers a range of spectacular walks and some beautiful crystal clear bays for swimming. There is a diving centre in Scopello for scuba lovers.

The town of Castellammare, a few kilometres east, has several seafront bars and restaurants and a daily fish market.

The spectacular Elymian/Greek site of Segesta is about 20 minutes drive away and Erice, Palermo, Trapani and Selinunte can all be reached in under an hour.

"The setting and access to the sea are amazing, the house consequently is perfectly good. The owners most delightful and cleaning service adequate. August in Sicily is chaotic, but Funcia was a complete hide-away! Our holiday?
