The Property
Inside: a very large, airy living and dining area has direct access onto the pool terrace. Also on this floor are the kitchen, a double room, a twin room and a bathroom. The upper floor bedrooms have air conditioning. Downstairs are a study and sitting area, double room, a twin room, a room with a large single bed (at 140cm wide, it’s also a cosy double), two bathrooms (one with jacuzzi) and a sauna. All lower floor bedrooms have ceiling fans and direct access to a shady patio and the garden.
Outside: the large and well kept garden, on several levels and with many very pleasant private areas, features olive trees, palms, lawns, terraces with sitting and dining areas, the pool and various Mediterranean flora. There is also an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and wonderful views of the Aeolian islands.
The Area
1.5 km (1 mile) from the beach as the crow flies (it's about 9 km along the windy road), Gli Ulivi is ideal for anyone wanting to mix a well appointed villa with pool with a little beach life and some exploration of the local environment.
The Sanctuary and Greek and Roman remains at Tindari are well worth a visit, and the hill towns of the Nebrodi are beautiful and fabulously free of tourism, even in the peak season.
The Aeolian Islands are a short hop on the hydrofoil from Capo D'Orlando (in the summer only) or Milazzo (all year round) and day trips are quite feasible. Also very easily accomplished are day trips to Mount Etna and Taormina , which is a little over 1 hour's drive away.
