Overview
Don't be put off be the relative anonymity of the building. It serves merely as an access ramp to this delightfully panoramic penthouse. The apartment itself has been designed so that a postcard has been framed for you whichever way you look. Walk in the door and you are presented with blue sea and the castle from which the town takes its name. Turn left and a small rectangular window frames Polyphemus' volcanic sea stacks perfectly. And as for those terraces... Aci Castello is a pleasant fishing town with a few bars and restaurants and an excellent base from which to explore eastern Sicily.
The Property
Inside: the flat is in the form of a "U" with a double bedroom and bathroom on one side and a fully equipped kitchen and living area with sofa-bed on the other. The base of the "U" contains the entrance, another sitting area, a fabulous picture window and the entrance to the terrace. There is also a large glass conservatory, making for panoramic dining all year round. In fact, with heating in the winter and air-conditioning for the summer, this flat really is perfect all year round.
Outside: the terrace is huge and furnished with an elegant wooden canopy, wooden furniture and lots of Mediterranean plants.
The Area
Aci Castello is a charming fishing town, still relatively untouched by tourism except during August and summer weekends when it fills up with people from Catania in search of the sea.
Nearby Acitrezza, just the other side of the headland is the rather more fashionable and busier sister town and has some very pleasant bars and restaurants.
Taormina is just a short drive up the coast, Mount Etna looms behind and Siracusa is about an hour's drive away. Further afield, but also suitable for day trips are the UNESCO world heritage towns of the Notovalley. There's even a golf course within striking distance if you fancy a round!

Think About
Can accommodate a maximum of four people with the use of the sofa-bed, (the extra people would have to pass the master bed to get to the bathroom), access via a lift and about 20 steps. The sea front gets busy and very noisy in July and August.
