Overview
Nestled on the flanks of the Madonie Mountains, boasting fabulous panoramas of the Tyrrhenian coast from Cefalù to the Aeolian Islands and a spectacularly positioned pool, Il Ciliegio provides the perfect way to mix mountains and sea. This very comfortable and excellently fitted house is for lovers of peace, tranquility and views. It’s an ideal base for exploring, on foot or by car, the mountainous nature reserve of Le Madonie, its many towns and villages, offering markets, local trattorie and a truly authentic view of a Sicily way off the tourist trail. Just twenty minutes drive down the hill is Cefalù, with its spectacularly sited Norman cathedral, mediaeval town centre and beach.
The Property
Inside: the house is arranged on two floors with the living quarters downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs. A large high-ceilinged entrance hall with staircase is in the middle of the house. To the left is a guest bathroom, a large dining room and a well designed, fully equipped kitchen with a second dining table. To the right are two open-plan living areas offering an ample supply of sofas and armchairs and a huge fireplace. The first floor is home to the four bedrooms (three doubles and one twin) and two bathrooms, one with tub and one with shower. All are furnished to exceptionally high levels and have stunning views.
Outside: the gardens are extensive, beautifully kept and have 360 degree views of the sea and the mountains. There is a large shaded area with a barbecue, a dining table with great views of the coast and plenty of comfortable outdoor seating. The lovely panoramic pool is situated in front of the house to make the most of the views of Cefalù and the sea down below. A range of fruit trees means that there is always fresh fruit to be picked, whatever the season. Several hiking paths lead directly from the property into the surrounding countryside, making Il Ciliegio perfect for those who enjoy walking.

The motorway gives you easy access to Palermo, Monreale and the Roman remains at
Solunto. Slightly further afield, the Ancient Greek remains at Segesta, Selinunte and The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento are well worth the journey.
