The Property
Inside: the main entrance leads into a very large, open plan sitting room on two levels. The main sitting area is on the lower level and features comfortable sofas, a fireplace and a glazed door leading out to the terraces, garden and the sea access. On the upper level is the large and newly fitted kitchen and a double bedroom with a private studio and adjacent bathroom (with shower). Upstairs, a wide gallery overlooking the living room leads out onto a terrace with stunning sea views and to three double bedrooms, two with ensuite bathrooms (one with shower and one with bath), one with an adjacent bathroom (with shower). One of these rooms has sea views, the others look onto the garden.
Outside: access to the house is via a private drive which passes through thick woods. There are several terrace areas on the sea side of the property, and the descent to the sea is via well tended steps. The sea access itself is relatively easy as there is an underwater bathing platform in a small protected bay. The water in the area is particularly clear, and perfect for snorkelling and swimming.
The Area
Set on the edge of the Golfo di Castellamare, La Fenice is in a very private spot on one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Sicily.
The small town of Scopello just up the hill has a good selection of restaurants and bars, and can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes. There are a few basic shops about 10 minutes walk away.
The old tuna plant of Scopello, a few hundred metres along the coast from the villa, is in a very suggestive setting, and the Zingaro nature reserve offers a range of spectacular walks and some beautiful crystal clear bays for swimming. There is a diving centre in Scopello for SCUBA lovers.
The town of Castellamare a few kilometres up the road has several seafront bars and restaurants and a daily fish market.
The spectacular Elymian/Greek site of Segesta is about 20 minutes drive away and Erice, Palermo, Trapani and Selinunte can all be reached in under an hour.
