Overview
With its stunningly positioned infinity pool overlooking the town of Cefalu', the imposing limestone promontory of "La Rocca" (from which the villa takes its name) and the Tyrrhenian Sea, this comfortable, simply styled house offers an excellent mix of sea, mountains, peace and quiet and the bar and restaurant life of one of Sicily's most charming seaside towns.
The Property
Inside: La Rocca is a modern Mediterranean "villa" with a practical layout, clean lines and simple but elegant furnishing. The open-plan ground floor features a large living and dining area, a well equipped kitchen and a bathroom with shower. There is an open fireplace and direct access to the furnished terrace and pool at the front of the house. Upstairs are three double bedrooms, two singles, and a bathroom with tub. Two of the doubles have small balconies though all three have great sea views. The singles look out onto the unspoiled country woodland to the side of the house.
Outside: arrival at the house is via a winding road up the mountain from the town of Cefalu'. At the end of a short private drive, there is a parking space conveniently to the side of the house. At the front, between the house and the pool, is a furnished terrace area for outdoor dining and relaxation with easy access to the kitchen and the barbeque. The centre piece of the grounds is undoubtedly the dramatically positioned infinity pool with its unique views of Cefalu' the Rocca and the sea. From inside the pool, one really has the sensation of hanging directly above the azure sea. Stretching up behind the house are several hectares of terraced land, featuring centuries old olive and chestnut trees.
The Area
Nestled on the flanks of the Madonie Mountains La Rocca is a perfect way to mix mountains and sea. It’s an ideal base for exploring, on foot or by car, the mountainous nature reserve and the many towns and villages that it contains.
Just fifteen minutes drive down the hill is Cefalu', with its spectacularly sited Norman cathedral, medieval town centre and sandy beach. Cefalù also offers a good and varied selection of restaurants and bars. There is also an 18 hole golf course within 20-25 minutes drive.
The motorway gives you easy access to Palermo, Monreale and the Roman remains at Solunto. Slightly further afield, the Ancient Greek remains at Segesta, Selinunte and The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento are well worth the journey.

Think About
This is a perfect house for a family, though we must draw attention to the infinity pool which has a drop at the far end (though with a safety net below). The pool area can be closed off on request with temporary fencing but younger children should be supervised whilst in or around the pool.
