Overview
Le Palme is a beautifully fitted property just outside the UNESCO protected town of Caltagirone. It has stunning views, a beautiful garden with a great pool and is just 45 minutes from the white sand beaches of the south coast. Set on an acre of green lawns surrounded by olive groves, the practical summer house is ideal for outdoor living amongst the sweet aromas of the meticulously tended garden whereas the main body of the property offers opulent sleeping and living quarters.
The Property
Inside: the main house is on three floors. On the ground floor is the kitchen, dining room, a guest bathroom and a lounge room with large satellite tv. On the first floor is a second sitting room, two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms (one with Jacuzzi bath, the other with hydro-massage shower). One of the bedrooms has a dressing room with space for a cot. On the top floor is a double bedroom, a twin bedroom a living room, bathroom and a second kitchen. The ground floor and first floor are furnished in opulent style, with a mixture of quality modern and antique furniture and some splendid art. The top floor is simple and elegant in style, and has some superb modern paintings.
Outside: Le Palme is set in about an acre of lawned gardens with some beautiful Mediterranean plants and trees. Behind the house is an area of flat lawn ideal for children to play in. In front of the house and above the far stretching views over hills and out to the sea is a shady iron gazebo (perfect for outside dining) and the beautiful mosaic lined pool. A superb feature of the property is the summer house, with its sitting area, fitted kitchen and large dining table. This is effectively the summer living room, and you will quite possibly spend more of your waking hours here than in the main house itself.
The Area
Caltagirone is a calm and peaceful baroque city that has recently been declared a UNESCO world heritage site. It is also famous for its fine ceramics, examples of which are to be found all over the finests palazzi in Sicily. The closest beaches are just over 45 minutes drive away, and boast the fine white sand that is characteristic of the south coast of Sicily. Also within easy driving distance are Piazza Armerina, with its world famous Roman mosaics, the other towns of the Noto valley (Noto, Modica, Ragusa and Scicli), and Siracusa.
