Shared areas: in the Farmhouse are two spacious, comfortable communal living areas on the ground floor, a terrace and a roof-top solarium. Guests staying at Il Casello do, of course, have full run of the communal areas in and around the Farmhouse. The Area
The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento is one of the largest and best excavated of all ancient Greek archaeological sites, and merits several days exploration for those with a passion for ancient history. Other Greek sites nearby include the important colonies of Selinunte, Licata, Gela and Eraclea Minoa. The landscape in this area is characterised by rolling hills of olive groves and vineyards, rising steeply into the higher mountains to the north. Walkers will find plenty to satisfy them in the hills and lovers of the sea will be well satisfied by the sandy beaches and chalk cliffs nearby. The multitude of small towns nearby, including the fishing port of Sciacca, the old centre of Palma di Montechiaro and Mussomeli with its recently restored Norman castle, are well worth spending some leisurely days exploring. Palermo is about a two hour drive away and the beautiful baroque town of Ragusa about one hour to the east.
