Inside: Mila is set on two floors. The first floor is home to three double bedrooms, two of which have en-suite bathrooms. Another bathroom is adjacent to the third bedroom. All three bedrooms access the fabulous sea-view terrace that runs along the front of the house. Another part of the upper floor is given over to a fabulous wellness and fitness area complete with tapis roulant, step machine, body training machine with weights, abdominal bench, cyclette, mats and skipping ropes. In an adjacent room is a one-person Jacuzzi, a music and chromotherapy area and a tatami massage bed for in- villa massages! Downstairs are two adjoining double bedrooms (the second is accessible only via the first, and has natural light only through an arched window giving onto the first) and a bathroom. A large living area with wonderfully comfortable sofas gives way through a lava stone arch to the spacious dining room and kitchen, off which is a further bathroom. Both the living room and the dining room/kitchen have direct access to the gardens.
Mila has recently been built to a high standard using traditional building materials including lava stone flooring and fireplace downstairs, old terracotta tiles upstairs. The triple-arched symmetry of the facade and the warm ochre colouring are highly characteristic of houses on Mount Eta.
Outside: Mila is surrounded on all sides by the luxuriant, terraced vineyards and orchards that grow with such gusto on the fertile soils of Mount Etna. Each of the three bedrooms on the first floor has access to the long panoramic terrace, but it is the gardens below where guests spend the majority of their waking hours. Large French doors seamlessly connect the interiors of the lower floor with the olive-tree specked gardens and the al fresco dining area. Green lawns envelope the fabulously situated chlorine-free pool and views abound from all angles, taking in vast swathes of the Ionian Sea, the coast down below and, if you can turn away from that, Mount Etna behind!
