Arriving at Poggio Pigio is a breathtaking experience. From the cobalt blue of the coast one ascends to a privileged position on the crest of a hill from where 360-degree views spread out, taking in the Madonie Mountains to the south and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the north. Stylishly calming interiors blend harmoniously with stunning outside areas, including a panoramic pool.

“A splendid villa and what an amazing location! This is really the place to get away from it all, with fine views north over the sea and south over the Madonie Mountains.”
Neville John Browne, UK, August 2012

About the Property

Inside: from the shaded terrace one enters the open-plan living and dining area and kitchen. Polished concrete floors throughout create a clean, minimalist effect while the beamed ceilings hark back to the house’s former life. The spacious bedroom, which is just off the living area, boasts views out to sea while the bathroom, with its enormous walk-in shower has a definite wow factor. Mod-cons are in abundance, with flat-screen TV with satellite, a Dolby surround audio system and top quality appliances in the kitchen.

Outside: the outside areas are extensive, including a large, partially-covered terrace with sea views in front of the house and a panoramic swimming pool, complete with hydro-massage corner and swimming machine to the back. From wherever you sit, you will find yourself staring in awe at the views. Peace and quiet abound...unless you use the pool-side sound system!

Think About

The perfect romantic honeymoon villa! The villa's driveway is steep and has some tight bends which may put less confident drivers off. The majority of guests, however, have no problem. Here are 2 reviews:
1. The road up to the villa is narrow and has some serious drops off the side, it was a bit nerve racking at first, but we got used to it after a day or so. The Lancia we hired made it up and down without issue...
2. Access to property entrance was via a poorly made up road which was in bad condition - possibly due to recent rain (improvements have been made since this review). The property access road was also very steep. Our hire car was a 'standard' 1.2 Punto and we encountered considerable difficulty in using this vehicle due to it catching the underside and damaging exhaust when accessing the property. We would strongly advise that you should recommend guests to hire a suitable vehicle (with good ground clearance).

The Area

Exploring the local Area

The north flank of the Madonie mountains, just east of Cefalu', is one of the most beautiful areas in Sicily. The sea views are stunning, the flora and fauna incontaminated, and the towns and villages unspoilt. Pollina and Castelbuono, the two nearest towns, are good examples of this. Castelbuono is just now starting to find its place on the tourist map and features a fascinating castle and some good restaurants. Hill-top Pollina is a typical Sicilian village.
The beach at Pollina, which is just 15 minutes' drive from Poggio Pigio, is well equipped in summer for the benefit of the clients of an adjacent Italian holiday resort. Out of the peak season, however, it is relatively deserted.

Neville John Browne, United Kingdom, 11 August 2012
"A splendid villa and what an amazing location! This is really the place to get away from it all, with fine views north over the sea and south over the Madonie Mountains, and with a peace so perfect that was only very occasionally interrupted by 21st century traffic overhead. Being located well up a hillside has its challenges, the access is steep and our 3 door hire car didn't have much oomph, but after the first time it really was fine and we wouldn't have missed the opportunity to stay in such a splendid villa for such a minor matter commented on by other visitors."

Caroline Merrell, United Kingdom, 14 July 2012
"Altogether a perfect holiday - track down and up to the villa is a bit treacherous, but we realised that from the feedback and we got used to it. "

Graeme Pallant, United Kingdom, 9 September 2011
"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Poggio Pigio which was of a very high standard and stylishly done."
