Overview
At thinkSicily, we find superlatives hard to pronounce, but it is no exaggeration to say that this is one of the most spectacular sea front villas in Sicily. Indeed, it was nominated one of "the 30 best villas in the Med" by Conde Nast Traveller in 2006, and has featured in AD magazine. We have more than one reliable report of our clients leaving this house with tears in their eyes. The sumptuously furnished terraces, the wonderfully restful views, the fabulously positioned pool and the graceful charm of the hospitality make a heady mix indeed. The ancient site of Solunto, inhabited by Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans and the spectacular villas of Bagheria are just up the road.

The Property
Accommodation: two self contained suites with separate entrances within the grounds of the main house. La Casina Bianca is on two levels: a double bedroom, bathroom (with a large shower) and a small internal single bedroom (suitable for a child) on the lower level, whilst upstairs there is a large living area with sofas, a large kitchenette and a second bathroom. La Casina Rossa is up a few stone steps behind the Casina Bianca and has a double bedroom, a small living area, a kitchenette and a bathroom. Both apartments are furnished with original seventeenth century Sicilian ceramics and hand painted furniture. Both casine have air conditioning.
Shared areas: the guest accommodation leads directly onto a terrace with a large dining and sitting area and barbeque. A stone staircase leads down to the crystal clear sea water pool, built directly into the rock, and a second staircase leads down to the sea. There is also an open air Jacuzzi and jogging treadmill with spectacular views.
The Area
The gulf of Solanto sits on the North coast of Sicily just to the East of Palermo. The ancient town of Solunto was settled by the Phoenecians in the eight century BC and was subsequently conquered by Greeks and Romans.
Due to its crystal sea, the bay is now a fashionable seaside retreat for the people of Palermo. For the visitor, Solunto is in a central location for short hops to Palermo, Cefalu', Monreale, Segesta, Erice, the Madonie Mountains and a host of other places.

thinkAbout
Main meals are not provided, but the suites have simple cooking facilities and there are some excellent trattorie in nearby coastal towns of Porticello and San Nicola. The very helpful and charming owners occupy the main house. La Casina Rossa is situated a few metres from the road, and a small percentage of clients have been disturbed by this.
