Looking for inspiration for things to do on your holiday in Sicily? To help Think Sicily has devised a series of "self-guided" itineraries that offer clients the opportunity to discover different aspects of Travel in Sicily.
Although the travel itineraries have some characteristics in common, each one has its own distinct theme.
The accommodation orders are not obligatory, so you can decide how to articulate your travels depending on your preferences and your point of arrival/departure in Sicily.
We have also added a list of suggestions for excursions/activities that can be added to or modified depending on your preferences. We will be happy to offer further advice so as to further tailor your holidays in Sicily.
Itinerary 1 - General Tour (for up to 4 people). Get a general overview of what Sicily has to offer by visiting most of its most important cities and sites while staying in some wonderful properties that also give you the chance to relax a bit.
Itinerary 2 - Romantic Sicily A holiday designed for those who wish to spend an intimate holiday travelling in the company of someone special. The accommodation included in this itinerary all has something special about it, whether it is a candle-lit terrace overlooking the sea or a view of the sun setting over the mountains.
Itinerary 3 - Historic Sicily Get an insight into Sicily's history by visiting some of the island's most important sites, including Palermo, Siracusa, Agrigento, Taormina and Catania. It will be your accommodation, however, that will really give you a sense of the past.
Itinerary 4 - Gastronomic Sicily For food and wine lovers, this itinerary is an authentic gourmand's delight...... wine and olive oil tasting, tours of vineyards and oil presses, cookery lessons with renowned Sicilian cooks (two of whom have published books on Sicilian cuisine) who will welcome you into their homes.
Itinerary 5 - Walking in Sicily For those who love walking, then Sicily, a great deal of which is over 1,000m, is an ideal place to come. Walk up Europe's highest volcano (Mount Etna - 3323m), discover the wonderful landscapes of the Mount Etna National Park and trace the millenial shepherds' paths that wind around the Madonie mountains. After a hard but exhilerating day in the open air, you will be able to relax in the comfortable surroundings of your chosen accommodation.
Itinerary 6 - The Sea, The Sea! Three seas surround Sicily: the Ionian, the Tyrrhenian and the Mediterranean. Experiencing all three, with their multitude of different beaches, coves, bays and turquoise waters, is now possible. If it's simple swimming and sunbathing, or more active snorkelling and scuba-diving that you want, then this itinerary, dedicated to Neptune himself, is for you!
Itinerary 7 - Inside Sicily Get a real taste for the breathtaking interior of Sicily. Mountains, lakes, unspoilt hill-top towns and castles abound, waiting for tourists who never really seem to come. If you would really like to get to know Sicily, then you must head for its heart.
Itinerary 8 - Island Hopping If islands are your thing, Sicily has some of the loveliest in the Mediterranean. From the volcanic Aeolian archipelago to the marvellous Egadis, you will be able to take in 10 unique islands offering all manner of pleasurable experiences......
Itinerary 9 - Coast to Coast to Coast As its Greek name, Trinacria, might suggest, Sicily is virtually a triangle. Its 3 very distinct coastlines, from the more rugged, mountainous north coast, to the gentle elegance of the east and the long expanse of sandy beaches to the south, offer a plethora of possibilities for exploration.
