| A bird's eye view - the ancient town of Erice |
|
Towering over the west of Sicily at 751m above sea level and often covered in its own personal cloud, Erice is a wonderfully preserved Mediaeval town offering the most breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Originally an Elymian city (the Elymians were around before the Greeks ever set foot in Sicily) Erice, or Eryx as it was first called, was of great enough renown and to have attracted visits from the likes Hercules and Aeneas.

What's on in Sicily this summer? |
|
Simple question, simple answer - lots! Whether it's the international festival of Taormina Arte (featuring performers of the calibre of Gilberto Gil, Lorin Maazel and Montserrat Caballe'), the KalsArt festival brings a wonderful sense of vitality to the streets of Palermo's old town or the tiny but fascinating film festival of Marzamemi near Noto (where films are projected onto the sides of the town's whitewashed houses) there is plenty to see and do.

| Late cancellation availability - Borgo degli Aranci |
|
Good news! Due to a late cancellation, one of our finest larger properties, Borgo degli Aranci, has a few weeks available in July. A wonderful "hamlet", made up of three houses grouped together round a communal pool and dining area, Borgo degli Aranci is an ideal villa for large groups looking to spend some time together while maintaining a certain degree of privacy. It is also possible, however, to book just one of the houses, Cedro, for a smaller group.

| Pesto Sicilian style! |
|

Bottle of chilled white essential.....

| Two-villa, two-base holidays in Sicily |
|
Sicily's a big place - the largest region in Italy and the largest island in the Mediterranean. As such, it is nigh impossible to see everything you'd like to see in just one week. The obvious solution to this problem, for those wishing to get a more in-depth understanding of this most multi-faceted island, is to stay for two weeks dividing your time between two different parts of the island.
Whether you decide to spend one week in the east and and one in the west, to plump for a few days in the mountains followed by some time beside the sea or to hop from the main island to one of the satellite archipelagos, the possibilities are plentiful and greatly rewarding.
There is also the added bonus of being able to experience two wonderful thinkSicily villas! | | |
