A stylish, panoramic and practical family villa in one of Sicily’s most fashionable areas.

Set amongst vineyards just a few hundred metres from the white sand beach that stretches all the way to Selinunte, Serralunga is a perfectly proportioned, simple holiday home with a stylish pool and a generally "feel good" atmosphere. This is the very same area you will find several of our most popular properties, including Acquamarina, Profondo Blu, Cinnamon and Le Chicas. It's an area that has been recently discovered by stylish Italians, who have restored some great properties close to the undisturbed beaches of south western Sicily.

About the Property

Inside: Serralunga has a simple and practical layout for a holiday house. It's a restored farmhouse, so the walls are made of thick stone, making it cool, even in the height of summer. Even so, there's air conditioning in the bedrooms, so you can keep the windows closed at night if you prefer. It has three double bedrooms, two on the ground floor and the third up a spiral staircase in an observation turret. The bedrooms downstairs are at opposite ends of the house and both have ensuite bathrooms with showers, whereas the upstairs bedroom uses a bathroom on the ground floor. All bedrooms have views of the pool and the surrounding countryside. Also on the ground floor is a sitting room looking out onto the veranda, with two comfortable sofas, a large TV, a stereo with iPod jack and a fireplace. Next to the sitting room is the large kitchen with a bar and dining table, which leads in turn to a double bedroom. The kitchen opens to the pool area at the front of the house and an outside dining area to the rear.

Outside: you'll park your car outside the garden gate of Serralunga, and carry your bags up a short cobbled pathway past the pool and onto the terrace. The pool is stylishly lined with polished grey composite, and features a beach area, great for sunbathing, or for the kids to play. Beside the pool is a wooden sundeck. The pergola area between the pool and the house is extensive, and offers some great shade. Behind the kitchen is a shaded dining table, and a barbecue area. the garden features local shrubs and succulents, and some recently planted fruit trees. Altogether it offers a very agreeable atmosphere. We felt good there!

Think About

A practical, modern house close to sandy beaches. Great for families. The closest beaches are in the Belice Nature Reserve - wild and unspoilt. There are no lidos and you have to park just outside the reserve and walk for 5-10 minutes. The effort is worth it! Otherwise the seafront of nearby Porto Palo has a fantastic beach with lidos, bars and restaurants.

The Area

Exploring the local Area

The long, often deserted sandy beaches are without a doubt one of the major attractions of the area around Menfi, and Serralunga is within easy reach of several of these. From the wild beaches of the Belice Nature Reserve (5 mins by car) to the fully equipped lidi with sports and restaurant facilities of Porto Palo, this area is a magnet for beach lovers. For those in search of culture, the superb Greek archaeological site of Selinunte is one of the finest in the Mediterranean. Menfi itself is a centre of the local wine industry, with several wineries, including a large Planeta winery that produces some of the best known wines of that famous marque. Sciacca, too, is just up the coast. This old fishing port and spa town is well worth a visit, and has some great fish restaurants. And when you've done all that, head inland to see some fascinating hill towns, such as Caltabellotta or Sambuca.

"The villa was very comfortable & suited our needs really well. In fact like a lot of your previous Clients we ended up staying at the villa a lot more than we had anticipated, generally only venturing late in the afternoon/evening for a bit of sightseeing & an evening meal."

Charlotte Aubrey, United Kingdom, 27 August 2011
"A beautiful villa in a lovely setting."

Joe Conti, Canada, 13 August 2011
