Overview
Terre di Vendicari is a perfect example of contemporary Sicilian chic. The refined elegance of the building’s cubic symmetry blends seamlessly with the panoramic terraces, complete with decking and cushion-strewn Indonesian furniture. Sun-soaked olive groves and almond and lemon orchards stretch as far as the eye can see, interrupted only by the Nature Reserve of Vendicari with its fabulous selection of beaches, its migrating flamingos and its crystalline waters. With a 30-metre pool offering real swimming possibilities, Terre di Vendicari is an oasis of calm, tranquillity and voluptuous sensory pleasures.

The Property
Inside: there are five double en-suite bedrooms, each with independent access from the surrounding terraces. They are furnished with great style and are light and airy. All the bedrooms are equipped with air-conditioning, large plasma satellite TV and a DVD player. The communal dining room is also "chicly" elegant and provides a convivial atmosphere at meal times (though in the summer dinner will usually be served outside).
Outside: the main focus of the exterior is undoubtedly the fantastic 30-metre pool, which is surrounded by lawns and top quality sun beds. However, there are also a great many other relaxation areas around the main building offering a variety of great views. The decked area at the front is particularly lovely from dusk onwards when lanterns are lit and aperitifs served. Mediterranean flowers, shrubs and trees abound, offering enchanting fragrances that are so much a part of the atmosphere.
The Area
Terre di Vendicari is set on a gently sloping plain just south of the fascinating baroque town of Noto and looks over the beautiful natural reserve of Vendicari. Noto is the most easterly of a chain of baroque towns now protected as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It is also perhaps the most perfect of the baroque towns, which were all rebuilt in flamboyant style following a major earthquake in 1693. The Vendicari nature reserve boasts some of the finest sandy beaches in Sicily, which are pleasingly under populated even in the height of summer. Vendicari is also home to thousands of migrating flamingos, and sea turtles nest on its beaches.
If hiking in the hills is your thing, then there is some spectacular scenery in the rushing streams and waterfalls of Cassibile and at the Paleolithic burial sites in the dramatic valley of Pantalica.
Siracusa is just half an hour's drive away, and a day there is highly recommended to anybody spending a week or two at Le Terre di Vendicari. A little further afield, the other baroque towns of Modica, Ragusa and Scicli are easily reachable in a day.

Think About
One of the bedrooms is smaller than the others and may be a little less comfortable for stays of more than a couple of nights. Please check at time of booking. Due to the quiet, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere at Terre di Vendicari, the owners prefer not to accept children under the age of 10.
