One thing is without doubt: an essential ingredient of any successful holiday is good food and wine. Restaurants, vineyards, gelaterias and cafes are as important as beaches, Cathedrals and archaeological sites. Sampling the local food, living the gastronomic life of the natives and sipping on a glass of chilled wine made just round the corner are the essence of “la bella vita” and the most pleasurable way of “immersing” yourself in the indigenous culture.

thinkSicily can offer all this and more: in most of our properties it is possible to organise the service of an “in-house” cook. This enables you to sample the local food at its most authentic in the comfort of your own home. You will neither have to set foot in the kitchen nor worry about driving back after a glass or two. Any young children in your group can have a normal bedtime, you will not have to worry about shopping or washing up and that extra time can be spent lounging by the pool or sipping an aperitif while watching the sunset. Then, as if by magic, it will be time for that well-earned feast.

Our cooks, while not all being professional chefs, have usually cooked for the owners for years and produce genuine, delicious expressions of the local cuisine. They know the right butchers and fishermen and will be able to source local products such as cheeses and cured meats that you will not find in many restaurants.

You can hire a cook as much or as little as you like. After a long tiring journey, it may be nice on arrival at your villa to be greeted by mouth-watering fragrances emanating from the kitchen and the prospect of a good dinner to get you immediately into the holiday mood.
